How to get around during your stay in Mauritius?
Mauritius is a very small island, with less than 2000 sq km. Distances between two places are rarely long. There are several ways to get around the island, depending on your wishes.
The most folkloric and economical way: the bus! An excellent public transport system operates throughout the island. There are bus stops everywhere and even if the timetables are not mentioned, the regularity of the passages means that you won't need to wait very long.
For a few months, a light metro has served the Curepipe-Port-Louis section. Fast and
above all, it is comfortable to avoid the numerous traffic jams between these two important cities, it also avoids the trouble of finding a car park in Port-Louis.
For an "accompanied" but independent visit: ask our concierge for a taxi affiliated to the hotel or recommended by us. They are excellent guides and will remain at your disposal throughout your visit.
It is also possible to rent a chauffeur-driven vehicle or to use one of the Tour Operators operating in our hotel residences for specific outings.
To explore the island in total freedom, you can rent a car at the airport or at the hotel. This option means that you will need to quickly master left-hand drive and deal with Mauritians' distinct attitude to traffic regulations.
Finally, many providers offer scooters for hire, ideal for short trips. For an exploration of Mauritius on a road bike, our partner offers Royal Enfield 350 motorbikes for the pleasure of riding in total freedom on sandy roads and off the beaten track.
